Adult Basic Education classes are held in the old Milan school building twice a week. These classes are funded by the State of Minnesota and are part of the Southwest Minnesota ABE consortium. Students are able to gain skills in a variety of subjects including:

English as a second language

written driver's test prep

Computer Literacy

Targeted Vocational Training

GED Test Prep

College Readiness

US Citizenship Test Prep

Classes are free of charge, and students can begin their studies at any time. Classes are held on Tuesdays from 11:00AM-2:00PM and Thursdays from 4:30-6:30PM.

The Old Milan School offers versatile rental spaces to meet the needs of a wide range of individuals and organizations. Our facility features a diverse selection of spaces that can be utilized for a variety of purposes, including but not limited to, meetings, events, workshops, classes, and more. 

Additionally, the Old Milan School provides opportunities for long-term rental arrangements, such as office space, storage, artist studios, and retail businesses. Our rental rates are competitive and tailored to meet the specific requirements of each individual or organization.

About Full Circle

Discover the treasure trove that is the Full Circle Thrift Store, located in the heart of the historic old Milan school building. Established in 2008, this store is brimming with gently-used items that have been donated by the generous community. With all staff being volunteers, the proceeds from your purchases go towards preserving the beloved old school building for generations to come.

But that’s not all! The Full Circle Thrift Store also gives back to those in need, by donating items to local charities and families. Open once a week and by appointment, it’s the perfect opportunity to score some great deals while making a positive impact on the community. Wic Clinics

Second Wednesday of Each Month

The GMI WIC Clinic, a service of Countryside Public Health, provides essential support to mothers and their babies. This clinic offers wellness checks, vaccinations, health and nutrition education, and car seat information, as well as partnerships with Chippewa County Family Services to provide additional resources such as housing, health insurance, and energy and food assistance.

On special occasions, the “Justice Bus” from Minnesota Legal Aid visits the Milan WIC Clinic to provide free legal assistance to those in need. This helps to ensure that everyone in the community has access to justice and support, making the WIC Clinic a valuable resource for families in the Greater Milan area.

Coffee & Chat

Second Monday of Each Month

“Join GMI for a warm and welcoming monthly gathering, where you can come together with others in the community over a cup of coffee and some light refreshments. Our Coffee & Chat sessions are held on the second Monday of each month at 2pm, at the historic Old School Building.

These sessions provide an opportunity for people to connect, share ideas, and engage in meaningful conversations in a relaxed and informal setting. Whether you’re a long-time resident or new to the area, you’re sure to feel at home at these community gatherings.Free-will donations are accepted at these sessions, with the proceeds going towards GMI building projects. 

Community Fitness Center

Hours: 5am - 10pm | Every day, year round

Monthly Membership: $30 + tax

The GMI Community Fitness Center was established in February 2008 with the support of a local bank, making it possible to equip the center with a full range of cardio and strength-training equipment. Our aim is to provide the community with the necessary resources to reach their fitness and wellness goals.

We are proud to be a part of the National Independent Health Club Association and have established partnerships with various insurance companies to offer monthly reimbursements to our members.

Our facilities include treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, free weights, and weight machines. Members have access to the gym on a daily basis, 365 days a year, with operating hours of 5am to 10pm. With a monthly membership fee of just $30 + tax, getting fit has never been more accessible.
